When Tesla stops teasing us with the release of Tesla S Plaid Plus (now expected in mid-2022) many expect it to be a game changer. The Plaid Plus is expected to exceed the already eye-opening performance of the Tesla S while maintaining its straight forward, no-nonsense ordering system. How simple? Choose your color, style of wheels and how fast you want to go, and you are on your way.
So, what can we expect from the Tesla Model S Plaid Plus? More. More speed, more efficiency and a greater range. Tesla has already reached a 390-mile range so expectations for the S Plaid Plus are to crack the 400-mile barrier. While not much may be expected from a “quick charge” standpoint, one can expect a minimum 200-mile range with a 15-minute charge. That is becoming almost a minimum standard not just for Tesla’s but in the EV industry.
Tesla’s already impressive gains in performance have put themselves on the spot to do more and more. The Tesla S Plus can already accelerate from zero to 60 in 1.99 seconds. Will the Tesla S Plus Plaid be able to tick that down to into the 1.8’s? Previous models already have a top speed of 200mph, so where will the S Plaid Plus take us? We can certainly expect horsepower to increase, perhaps reaching into the mid 1100 HP range. It is not unreasonable to expect quarter mile times, already in the 9’s to reach into the high 8-second range.
Inside, the Tesla S Plaid Plus will continue to have a minimalist interior with clean lines, three interior screens up front and an 8” screen for rear seat passengers. An impressive 22 speakers, 900 watt premium audio system keeps driver and passengers connected and entertained. The steering wheel is already being minimized, perhaps in anticipation of more autonomous driving features in the future.
While many of the details remain TBA, here are the anticipated basics of the Tesla Model S Plaid Plus:
- Base price of about $149,000
- Seating Capacity of 5
- Hatchback
- Electric engine
- Single speed automatic transmission
- All-wheel drive
- 19” aluminum wheels
Just about every option you can imagine is standard in the Tesla Model S Plaid Plus. There is just not a lot to consider when making your purchase. This fact should be a consideration when comparing pricing. When one considers the amount of options and features and exceptional performance, the MSRP of about $150,000 can appear to be quite the bargain, especially when compared to other performance cars.
With Tesla, there is always certain to be a bit of drama, anticipation, and unexpected moves and announcements. We have come to expect the unexpected so stay tuned. The wait will likely be worth it.
